EXIT Realty Blaine Associates did something very very special this year. As many of you know Tom Blaine recently passed away after a long illness and Barbara is running the office with the capable assistance of Beverly Bower, the long time manager of the office.

This office is run in a business like and efficient way and the agents think of the office as a family. Blaine is a close family living and working together always striving to accomplish more not only for the office as a whole but for each and every agent lucky enough to work there.  Well this year they did something special! 

EXIT Realty Blaine Associates took home 4 of the top regional awards for production. The office was the top producing office intotal gross commissions earned.  We all know how good that is!  EXIT Blaine also won for the Total number of Transactions putting together and closing almost 400 transactions for the year 2011. No surprise is also the fact EXIT Blaine won for the most listings taken, every good manager knows the office with the most listings will most likely have the most sales and the most closings therefore the highest gross commissions!  Listings rule!!  Another production award was the most number of listings and Per Agent Production. The last regional production award won by EXIT Blaine and associates wasthe highest and most coveted award we give and that is for per agent production.  Per agent production meansthe agents at EXIT Blaine were more productive on a per agent basis than any other office in EXIT Realty for the year 2011. Agent making a living is what that means!  Agent number 43 in the US top 100 EXIT agents is Beverly Bower, manager of EXIT Realty Blaine Associates.  Beverly  won for top producing agent in Southern California also.

In addition to all these wonderful well deserved awards the office won 2 EXIT sprit awards for associates who displayed the best of EXIT Realty for the 2011 year and an additional award for participation.  All in all 8 prestigious awards were given tothis outstanding office for the 2011 year production.  Something that has never been done by anyoffice in precious years.

The agents in this office love to be a part of the family of agents in EXIT Realty Blaine Associates. Next time you are in Apple Valley stop in the office and feel the atmosphere of helping and customer service that office eludes.  If only every Real Estate office were blessedwith the foundation given by Tom and Barbara the public would think of RealEstate people in a much better light.

I recently saw a movie that made me sit and really consider the phrase ‘Lead by example.’It wasn’t that I don’t agree with the statement, I do, but what I pondered was the act of being an example. An example by definition is “one of a number of things, or part of something, taken to show the character of something,” thank you dictionary.com. An example is something that I can use to follow or avoid. Basically, I got caught up in the idea that to lead by example you must be part of a group and to be picked as the example your character is closely considered and watched.

As real estate agents, brokers, owners, administrators and office staff we are closely considered and watched by our clients, associates, friends and family. They are watching to see what we do on those tough transactions; you know those escrows you seem to spend the majority of your day trying to save. It is in those times that we show how professional, considerate, kind and resourceful we can be. We are leaders by example every day.  We are the face of the transaction to our clients; we represent the purchase or sale.

Just like any good leader there are times we need to sharpen our skills and reenergize ourselves. The industry is always changing, upgrading, and evolving and to be a great leader we need to continually be learning as well. Aron Ralston’s astonishing story of survival is the most inspirational incident that I have ever encountered. Instead of dying in Bluejohn Canyon a Colorado, this mountain climber accomplishes one of the most daring self-rescues in mountaineering history. After being pinned by a half-ton boulder for nearly a week in a remote three-foot-wide slot canyon in southern Utah, Aron barely escaped death by severing his right forearm with a dull pocketknife. After applying a tourniquet, he hiked and rappelled for five hours through Blue John Canyon before searchers in a helicopter miraculously rescued him.

Aron Ralston chose survival by amputating his own limb, rappelling 65 feet and hiking seven miles to rescue. And in the words of Aron "Yes, it hurt... But I did not lose anything that day. I only gained from that experience a sense of what’s important to me, of what’s possible for me, of what’s extraordinary in me," he explained. "And as for that guarantee, it’s true you will have adversity, but be grateful for it. Because that adversity will show you that there is something absolutely extraordinary in each and every one of you."
