Opera House Guild to Hold Funraiser Luau - The Newberry Opera House Guild will present their bi-annual fundraiser Luau. This event will take place August 13 at the home of Billye and Peggie West. This is a fun filled event that gives you a taste of "the islands". The menu includes cooked on site pork barbeque, corn on the cob, shrimp, lots of frozen island drinks and many, many more items. There will be a silent auction and a best island costume contest. Music will be proveded by An Island Close By with Dr. Chris Lee. This is one of the premier events of the season so you won't want to miss it. Tickets are $40 each and are available by calling the Newberry Opera House ticket line at 803-276-6264 or on line at www.newberryoperahouse.com.

Labor Day Festival to Host Talent Show - The Town of Chapin's Labor Day Festival will be holding a Chapin Idol talent show September 5 in downtown Chapin on its own special stage off Clark Street. The show will begin after the parade. All ages and all varieties of talent are welcome.
